The earliest incarnations of The Wildes included guitarist Andy Wrigglesworth (now of The Weeping Willows) drummer Mat Duniam and bass player Shaun Ryan. In 2009 they recorded debut album ‘Ballad of a Young Married Man’ (with American producer Jonathan Burnside) which gained attention and praise in the street press community radio and radio national.
Now a decade in (with four acclaimed records under their belt and a bunch of awards including The Age Music Victoria Best Country album and a Golden Guitar for Best Alt-country Album) original members Lachlan and bassist Shaun Ryan are joined by producer/drummer Damian Cafarella (who’s been with the band since third album The Mountain) and new kid Riley Catherall on guitar. They’ve both toured Europe and the USA in each of the past four years recently selling out an entire headline European tour. Lachlan and the band have opened for the likes of John Hiatt Steve Earle Lord Huron Joan Armatrading and The North Mississippi Allstars and at home have become firm favourites at venues like Melbourne’s Caravan Music Club and Sydney’s Sly Fox.
In the latter half of 2019, Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes will release their fifth studio album. Amongst a slew of completely self-penned tracks, the album contains co-writes with the likes of Tim Rogers, Henry Wagons, Ruby Boots and Lachlan’s American tour-buddy Amelia White. First single ‘The Road’ dropped on July 2 and was immediately added to rotation on ABC Radio Australia and Apple Music’s A1 Americana Playlist.
