Riding a wave of critically-acclaimed singles throughout 2016, Nakatomi have rapidly garnered praise for innovative and energetic live shows that have drawn the attention of venues and touring acts alike. They’ve shared the stage with the likes of Miami Horror, Peking Duk, Joy., Nicole Millar, Luke Million, Asta, Young Franco, Hayden James, Wafia, Slumberjack, Crooked Colours, Benson, Command Q, Tigertown, Cleopold, The Swiss, Sneaky Sound System, Tigerilla and many more.
Taking influences from modern dance, SCI-FI movies, Madonna and Pizza, Nakatomi combine pop hooks with dark electro dance, punchy synths, lush arrangements and fully-charged vocals that have gotten them nominated for ‘Best New Artist’ (2016), ‘Most Popular Electronic Artist’ (2017) at the SA Music Awards and put on the bill for this years Scouted Festival for the AIR Awards. Nakatomi’s last single ‘Alive’ was placed on rotation on Triple J Unearthed with a Spotlight Artist Feature, came in at #84 in Fresh FM’s Hot 92 (2016), #19 in Radio Adelaide’s Most Played Tracks (2016), featured on Rage for 8 straight weeks and scored play on stations around Australia including Nova, Triple J, Fresh FM (rotation) and an Triple J Unearthed.
Nakatomi have just finished up recording several upcoming singles, which they have worked on with the likes of JP Fung (Birds of Tokyo, Jungle Giants), Tony Buchen (Montaigne, Asta, East, Neil Finn) and Jon Lemon (The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins, NIN, Depeche Mode).
