The inaugural Australian Festival Industry Conference (AFIC) was held across 24-25 October, 2019 at Opal Cove Resort in Coffs Harbour, NSW. AFIC is a brand new nationally focused event and is the only conference in Australia dedicated exclusively to servicing the thousands of festival industry professionals that produce quality music, arts and culture, food and drink, “intellectual and ideas” and sporting festivals.
AFIC is the brain child of Carlina Ericson – a freelance marketing, content and event management consultant that specialises in festivals, major events as well as the tourism and hospitality industries.
Carlina has over 10 years’ experience in the private and public sectors, having worked for high profile organisations such as Destination NSW, TAFE NSW, Sydney Royal Easter Show and The Intermedia Group – one of Australia’s largest B2B media and event management companies. Whilst at Intermedia, she successfully implemented digital marketing strategies for 20+ B2B magazine titles, as well as delivered the Hotel Management Awards and the Australian Liquor Industry Awards, resulting in record profit and attendance.
She also brings a wealth of festival experience, including have worked on Australia’s first sustainability festival, Greenfest, attracting 30,000 attendees; working as the assistant festival director and compiling Curryfest’s very first event plan in 2010; and, more recently, executing visitor marketing strategies for Screenwave International Film Festival which contributed to a 35% increase in attendance.
Carlina holds a Bachelor of Business (Marketing & Advertising) (Distinction) from Queensland University of Technology and a Graduate Certificate in Business (International Event Management) (Distinction) from The University of Queensland.
