DOBBY a rapper drummer music composer speaker and workshop facilitator. Aged 24 he proudly identifies as a Filipino and Aboriginal musician a member of the Murrawarri Republic in Brewarrina NSW. He has just released his self-titled ‘DOBBY’ EP in September 2018 which he wrote and produced. The DOBBY E.P Tour kicked off making a massive impact at BIGSOUND being labelled as the ‘buzz act’ and ‘one to watch out for’. With recent with shows at the Sydney Opera House and Surry Hills Festival his ‘sonic showcase of rhythm’ left crowds (literally) screaming for more. DOBBY is a multi instrumentalist his live show consisting of him jumping from the drums to the mic while also incorporating piano and live drum pads. DOBBY is making loud noise within the current music landscape with all eyes watching he has left a permanent imprint on all those he engages with. DOBBY is a skilled music composer as such awarded the 2017 bi-annual Peter Sculthorpe Fellowship. He has – completed a Bachelor of Music at the University of NSW and Indigenous Studies Honours (focus: Aboriginal HipHop music) – studied classical piano and achieved AMEB grade 6 and grade 2 musicianship. – performed as part of the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music in California Nevada and San Francisco USA. – performed at BIGSOUND 2017/18 VIVID Sydney’s VIVID Ideas Exchange The Plot Festival Yabun Festival UNSW corporate and academic functions Koori Radio events and at numerous NAIDOC celebrations across Australia and much more. DOBBY is also a member for Sydney band Jackie Brown Jr and currently co-hosts the HipHop show “Sunsets with DOBBY and DIOLA” on FBi Radio and facilitates HipHop/drum workshops in community centres schools throughout Sydney and rural NSW as well as an academic tutor in Indigenous Studies.
