Jane English has worked in the Australia, Asian and Worldwide music businesses, commencing in 1976. Her background has focused on music publishing, working with Australian and international songwriters. She has worked as a music publisher for EMI S.E. Asia, BMG Asia Pacific, Warner Bros Australia/Asia and Rondor Music Australia. Jane is currently Managing Director of Music Sales Australia/Embassy Music Publishing..
From 2004-2011, Jane was the Festival Director of the national Australian music festival, Good Vibrations Festival. At the same time, she was the Director of Jam Music, the music arm of Justin Hemmes’ award-winning hospitality group, merivale. As Jam Music Director, Jane managed the businesses of Chinese Laundry and Tank nightclubs, Jam Booking Agency, Jam Events, Jam Touring, Jam Recordings and Jam Music Publishing.
Between 2011-2012, Jane set up and managed the merivale group’s new live music room, Upstairs Beresford, in Sydney’s Surry Hills.
Jane has provided free advice to musicians at the Arts Law Centre of Australia and assisted in establishing the Australian musician’s benevolent fund, Support Act Limited. She has worked in artist management, television production, live theatre and record labels. Jane managed her brother-in-law, entertainer Jon English, for four years, and now manages alt/indie/pop band, Little Coyote.
