Keith began his career in the music industry as a founding member of Australian international success story ICEHOUSE after which he managed artists, staged events and ran an indie recording label until the mid-1990s. From 1996 to 2009 he was co-publisher of Australia’s music industry ‘bible’, the influential weekly music/record/radio/retail trade magazine The Music Network plus its Canadian sibling (Canadian Music Network). During that time Keith was responsible for the development of the magazines’ online presence, strategies and development. The Music Network was acquired by Peer Group Media in 2009. For five years Keith was also a partner in Rough Cut Music Publishing (Savage Garden, Evermore and The Butterfly Effect among others). The company was sold to Sony/ATV in 2009.
He has a Master of Dispute Resolution degree from the Law School of UTS in Sydney and is a fully qualified, certified and practicing Mediator and Facilitator. He serves as Deputy Chair on the Board of MusicNSW and is a Patron of the AAM (Association of Artist Managers). He formerly served as Chair of AMPAL (Australasian Music Publishers Association Limited), on the Board of AMCOS (Australasian Music Copyright Owners Society) and as Chairman of the AMMF (Australian Artist Managers Forum).
In addition to his work in Mediation, Keith is currently managing the musical interests of his long-time friend Iva Davies / ICEHOUSE, and provides independent consultancy services to a range of music industry organisations and artists through his company, Velocer Music. Keith’s career has led him to work extensively in the US, Canadian and UK markets as well as throughout Australia and New Zealand. This global exposure has enabled him to establish a wide network of contacts in the business, artist, radio, television and media communities. This experience and network provides him with an informed ‘insider’ perspective to the industry.
