Stefan joined the Studios 301 team in late 2015, relocating from South Africa where he worked as principal engineer for Grammy Award-winning producer Darryl Torr (Soweto Gospel Choir). He holds a degree in music production from Berklee College of Music, and since moving to Australia, has engineered for an expanding line-up of local artists including Polish Club, Paces, Guy Sebastian, Vallis Alps, Touch Sensitive, Delta Goodrem, Eso, Alta, Jonti, Panama and Taku & Wafia(Spotify Sessions). He’s also produced albums for Field of Wolves, The Hideaways and Roland Kay Smith.
Stefan’s broad engineering experience includes working on albums by MTV and SAMA award-winning artists Die Antwoord, Spoek Mathambo, Zebra & Giraffe, Gangs of Ballet and Shortstraw. Alongside work as a broadcast engineer mixing large music festivals live-to-air, and music events for the likes of Ray-Ban, Red Bull and Converse. In addition, Stefan owned and operated his own studio in Johannesburg.
In his short but eventful time in Sydney, Stefan has utilised his previous experience to transition quickly from assisting to leading sessions. Along the way, he has worked on sessions with renowned international artists including Coldplay, Zedd, Katy Perry, Elliphant, Elton John, Wolfmother, classical pianist Ambre Hammond, and local indie favourites I Know Leopard, Peking Duk and more.
Stefan has an easy-going approach in the studio and loves working with a diverse range of musicians, especially those aiming to push the boundaries within their genre to create something unique and exciting.
