Susan started her career in the music industry by doing work experience and part-time jobs in a number of different organisations, specialising in different fields such as Michael Chugg Entertainment, Black Yak Artist Management, Fish Records, EMI Music Australia and The Music Network.
After a short internship at Michael Chugg Entertainment, Susan began full-time employment as the Assistant to the General Manager and later worked as a Tour Coordinator and then Marketing Manager. In 2010, Susan took on the role of General Manager – Touring, bringing in tours, negotiating offers and managing the touring team under the company directors, Michael Chugg and Matthew Lazarus-Hall.
In 2016, Chugg Entertainment underwent a restructure following the departure of Matthew Lazarus-Hall, the company’s CEO and Susan moved into the role of Managing Director. Since then, she has been responsible for creating some incredible moments in Australian music, including touring international superstar Sia in late-2017, who, supported by Charli XCX, MO and Amy Shark became the first all-female lineup ever to play stadiums in Australia.
Some other highlights in her career include working with acts such as Radiohead, Coldplay, Robbie Williams, Dolly Parton, Pearl Jam, Florence + The Machine, Tame Impala, City and Colour, Alabama Shakes, Of Monsters and Men and Hozier, as well as a number of large-scale charity events including Wave Aid and Sound Relief.
As Chugg Entertainment’s Managing Director, Susan oversees a team of 30 people, manages partnerships with a number of independent promoters, including Lunatic Entertainment (co-promoters of the Laneway Presents touring arm), Penny Drop and Potts Entertainment, and oversees the delivery of major music festivals in Australia and abroad, including St Jerome’s Laneway Festival across seven markets in three countries and CMC Rocks QLD; Australia’s premiere country music festival.
In April 2019, following Chugg Entertainment’s merge with Frontier Touring (part of the Mushroom Group of companies), Frontier Touring announced a partnership with AEG Presents. This strategic alliance will extend both Susan and Chugg Entertainment’s reach and capacity to new heights, ensuring that the next few years are looking to be some of the most exciting in the company’s history.
