In the same way that Bon Iver casts a spell over the listener with haunted yet vulnerable music; Daniel, Christopher and Alasdair facilitate the connection from artist to audience and pain to peace with their intimate and engaging music.
St Joan are a meticulous band; often it’s the space in between the notes that provokes as much of a reaction as the ones that are strummed. Daniel’s commanding vocals, reminiscent of Jeff Buckley, are a call to arms as the sound envelopes you. Meanwhile, Christopher and Alasdair add a dynamic drum and bass unison that amplifies the trio’s sound to huge psychedelia heights– it’s hard to believe that only three people are behind such surrounding music. That’s the result of five years of songwriting and soul-searching.
After a plethora of singles over the last few years, navigating through family ties, relationships and brotherhood, St Joan have launched their debut EP “Burning Home” which peers in through the flame lit walls of a model home to reveal the hidden frailty within.
