Originally as a three-piece, the band was deeply rooted in a rockabilly punk style similar to Australia’s own The Living End, but as their front man, vocalist and guitarist Reid Brownhill’s unique perspective and song craft have developed, Watching Wolves began to form a sound that was uniquely their own, drawing inspiration and influence from a variety of artists & genres. Their songs began to draw on a story telling feel that reminisced and lamented over all of life’s beauties & tragedies.
Heading in a new direction musically, the quickly left behind their original sound and released their debut EP – Universes in the winter of 2017, the first track ‘Circles’ showcased this newly inspired sound. What began as rockabilly-punk, quickly transformed into harder hitting, higher energy & heavier riffs.
Most recently, the band released their new single ‘Heart In A Hurricane’ in April 2019, and their previous single ‘Vitals’ in November 2018 which reached 2nd on the Unearthed Charts.
Watching Wolves continue to draw ideas and inspiration from artists such as Nothing But Thieves, Circa Waves, The Wombats, Gang of Youths, Royal Blood, Biffy Clyro, Hockey Dad, Kings of Leon and most recently Trophy Eyes.
