Connie Mitchell is probably most familiar to you as Miss Connie, the singer and co-songwriter for electro-pop powerhouse Sneaky Sound System, but she’s also known for her eclectic fashion sense and reputation for fast wheels and vintage cars.
With Black Angus (Angus McDonald), her partner in Sneaky Sound System, Connie has been creating beautiful music since 2004. Three albums deep, including their multi-platinum self-titled debut, the #1 follow-up ‘2’, and the critically acclaimed ‘From Here To Anywhere’ (Rolling Stone called it “a euphoric thumping dance record”, others “polished, near perfect electro”), has seen Sneaky honoured with 14 ARIA Award nominations (winner of two), four APRA Award nominations, winner of MTV’s Independent Spirit Award, and a finalist in the International DJ Awards Live Performance category. Connie’s no stranger to chart success on the global stage either, with ‘It’s Not My Problem’ and, just last November, ‘Can’t Help The Way That I Feel’ topping the UK club chart. Their collaboration with Dutch superstar DJ Tiesto, ‘I Will Be Here’, reached #1 on both the Billboard US dance airplay chart and the UK club chart.
But back to Connie. While she’s been a mentor on The Voice and was named #18 in a News Limited poll of musicians to determine the greatest all-time Australian singers, it’s her superstar peers who, in requesting Connie to contribute both vocals and songwriting to their various albums, confirm what a true world-class talent she really is. Connie lent her vocals to four tracks on Kanye West’s Grammy-winning album ‘Graduation’, including the singles Flashing Lights, Can’t Tell Me Nothing and Champion, plus features for Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg and two additional Kanye records.
