
An Executive with 30+ years’ experience in the entertainment industry. Responsibilities have covered event promotion, business development, marketing, commercial management and event creation and production. The most recent project was to take a basketball team and build a “rock show” experience around the game play. The success around the Sydney Kings culminated with the recent sale of the sporting asset.
Prior to AEG Ogden (now ASM Global) he was with Ticketek (1989-2001) as General Manager of the A.C.T. with full Business Development responsibility. Was the promoter representative and artist liaison on most Canberra concerts during this period. Promoted in 1999 to National Venues and Events Manager relocating to Sydney eventually moving to the Business Development role at the Sydney SuperDome (now Qudos Bank Arena)
Colleagues know him as highly creative businessman who values a positive culture. Someone who can always be trusted to come up with a new approach and certainly understands the importance of the business element in music and entertainment. His approach is not to impose ideas on others immediately, instead, prefers the approach of listen, evaluate, learn and understand the strategy and the targeted audience before action.
His primary passion is music, always has been. Has studied the business of music at all levels as an academic studies at university. His acquired knowledge has seen him speak on many panel sessions including International Live Music Conference in London, South By Southwest and Pollstar Live in the US, Canadian Music Week and others.
Don owns a hobby record label to facilitate developing artists. Have been the Executive Producer for a number of albums and EP’s over the years. Has been a drummer since school and currently still plays regularly for pleasure.
